THE PROPOSALS

The emerging concept plan which has been informed by ongoing baseline survey and assessment work shows how about 2,250 dwellings, employment land, a local centre, sports/recreation facilities, two primary schools, landscaping and open space could be accommodated.

The ridge and eastern parkland area and existing woodland which informs the disposition of green infrastructure also serves to minimise landscape impacts and buffer the employment land.

The proposed local centre is positioned so as to be accessible to existing residents of Whitminster as well as to new residents.

Employment generating uses are proposed both within the local centre fronting the A38 and alongside the A419 near J13 of the M5, in attractive locations to the market, thereby increasing delivery prospects.

The green infrastructure is intended to offer opportunities for leisure and informal recreation uses as well as areas managed for nature conservation purposes.
